The mission of the Signal Processing Center of Excellence (COE) is to advance and strengthen business through the development of breakthrough communication waveforms. The Signal Processing COE keeps abreast of industry trends, develops strategies for emerging signal processing technologies, and enhances cross-divisional technology transfer within Harris.

The COE provides best-in-class expertise in signal processing for the identification, design and/or development of related communications technology which provide discriminating technical solutions for inclusion into Harris’ program offerings.

The goals and objectives of the signal processing COE include:

  • Executing technology studies in the field of signal processing.
  • Seeking innovative solutions that provide discriminating technology for future program applications.
  • Benchmarking competitors and understanding current state-of-the-art and emerging technologies.
  • Participating in standards committees and presenting at key technology conferences.
  • Promoting appropriate industry and key university partnerships to further the technology of signal processing.
  • Developing current and future leaders in the technology.

The Signal Processing COE team independently researches new solutions for both commercial and military industries. Some of the group's current research and technology interests are:

  • Waveforms for improved communications
  • DSP mitigation techniques
  • Tracking and location
  • Signal identification/characterization
  • Adaptive Array Processing
  • Radar
  • Wireless
  • Software Defined Radio architectures

The COE’s long-term collaborative efforts will effectively build competence and leverage resources to advance the technological future of signal processing, at Harris and within the industry at large.
