AS 9100/ISO 9001 Certification

Harris has held an ISO 9001 registration in portions of the organization since October 1994. Third party registration by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has been maintained since that time, which provides a registered Quality Management System and facility for our customers. DNV is one of the leading providers of assessment and certification services for Quality Systems, both in the U.S. and worldwide. The entire Harris Quality Management System was certified by DNV to the ISO 9001 quality system standard in September 2000. In September 2003, the Certificate was successfully updated to ISO 9001:2000.

In June of 2007, GCSD expanded the scope of the Quality Management System Certification to AS 9100. The AS 9100 Standard includes all of the requirements contained in ISO 9001:2000 plus the requirements identified by the International Aerospace and Defense Industry to meet their expectations for Aerospace and Defense products and services. The current AS 9100 Certificate is valid to June 2010. The Certification by DNV is accredited by the ANAB (ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board). The Quality System has also been validated to ISO 9001 by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). These certifications provide customers with confidence in the credibility of the Harris Quality System to the highest internationally recognized standards.

The presence of an AS 9100/ISO 9001 Quality System substantiates that Harris meets the requirements for aerospace and defense business processes ranging from Design and Development to Production, Hardware and Software, including Purchasing, Process Control, Calibration, Corrective and Preventive Action, etc. The recognition of Harris as an AS 9100/ISO 9001-compliant organization is another clear demonstration of our overall commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
