Harris Corporation is an international communications company that provides solutions
for commercial and government communications markets such as wireless, broadcast,
government systems, and network support.
Harris Canada Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harris Corporation. The company
operates high-tech facilities in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, and Calgary, Alberta.
The role of the Dollard-des-Ormeaux facility is to provide, design, manufacture
and distribute microwave radio systems solutions for wireless communications. Calgary
is the home of Government Communications Systems Canada (GCSC). This facility houses
the Consolidated Automatic Test Equipment Facility (CATEF), which provides second
and third level avionics and logistics life cycle support to the Department of National
Defence CF-18 Program. GCSC also manages other communications support activities,
such as the Canadian Forces Contractor Augmentation Program (CANCAP). Through CANCAP,
Harris provides communication hardware and satellite communications services in
support of Canadian Forces deployed personnel.
Harris Canada Inc., employs approximately 500 people across Canada and has
annual sales that exceed $200M.
Harris also has business development offices located in Ottawa, Ontario. This office
is the customer interface for both our ongoing, as well as our new Government pursuits.
The Ottawa office represents our Government and Defense Communications Systems and
RF Communications groups. Their primary goal, besides being the customer interface,
is to find and qualify new opportunities that focus on the corporation's key communications
strengths. Therefore, aerospace and communications programs that require systems
integration capabilities, displays, tactical maps, avionics systems, SATCOM, data
link, communications-on-the-move, secure wireless LAN, network management, information
systems, information security, tactical radios and support are core capabilities.
