Advanced Weapon Data Link (AWDL) The Harris-built AWDL is instrumental in providing a man-in-the-loop visual link between the control aircraft and the launched Stand-off Land Attack Missile Enhanced Response (SLAM ER) missile. The AWDL transmits a continuous, real-time image of the target taken from a camera positioned in the nose of the missile to the controlling aircraft or shipboard terminal. This allows the pilot to precisely update the point of impact during the missile’s final moments of flight. SLAM ER provides the U.S. Navy with surgical strike capability against high-value, fixed land targets, ships in port, or ships at sea. Designed for deployment from aircraft-carrier-based and land-based aircraft, SLAM ER can easily be adapted for ship launch. SLAM ER can be launched from safe standoff ranges of more than 150 nautical miles. For more information, please contact a Harris Senior Executive Account Manager.
