Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL)

Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL)

In the airborne arena, Harris Corporation is developing the Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL) remote electronics for the F-35 aircraft, as a key subsystem of Northrop Grumman Mission System’s Communications/Navigation/Identification (CNI System). The JSF MADL system includes six phased Array Antenna Assemblies (AAAs) and three Antenna Interface Units (AIUs). The system allows aircraft to communicate within and between flights in order to share a common view of the battle space. In development as part of the Joint Strike Fighter program, MADL is a key enabler for F-35 joint and coalition warfare.

The F-35 represents yet another defense platform for Harris phased array antenna technology, which is an integral component of MADL. The Harris equipment will support aircraft during formal flight and subsystems testing and production of all three variants of the F-35.
