The Harris Transit Case SATCOM terminal is the result of Harris’ internal development work and aimed specifically at physically demanding applications. It is a triband terminal with operations in C-band, X-band, and Ku-band, and is also capable of Ka-band operations. A new 2.5-meter transportable antenna and pedestal is combined with VME-based transit cases to provide a very rugged suite of outdoor equipment and a flexible, modular, and scalable suite of operator site electronics. The system architecture of this terminal addresses requirements for future frequency band changes, capacity increases, and a wide range of baseband protocols. The implementation also supports communications configurations that range from non-redundant spoke up to multitransmit carrier hub operation.
